One of my earliest memories is of playing trains under the table while my Mum used an old hand turned Singer Sewing machine above my head. I graduated to using it myself when I was four, and the rest, as they say, is history.
I started to quilt in 2002, and very quickly moved from traditional into contemporary and art quilts, as I found that only so many bed quilts could be accommodated by my friends and relations. I like to experiment with new techniques, amalgamating them where I can with traditional quilting and/or embroidery and embellishment. I was part of "Contemporary Expressions" until June 2014, and with them exhibited work in France,Spain and Holland, as well as in the UK. I contributed to the Contemporary Expressions exhibition in Alsace in September 2013. I am currently a member of "Layered" and the "Weedon Bec Contemporary Textile Group, which feeds my need for contemporary work, and "Needles and Sins" which was set up to use needle crafts to raise funds for local and national charities.
I had my first solo exhibition of Art quilts over the weekend of 29/30 November 2014 in Cosgrove, Northants, and also exhibited work at the Big Textile Show in Leicester in 2015.
